VA system ties IT project funding to budget and schedule goals

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has adopted a rigorous management system to keep its information technology (IT) projects on time and within budget. Under the agency’s program management and accountability system (PMAS), IT projects must deliver new functionality within six months and stay abreast of established project milestones—or risk having their funding cut.
