We are bombarded with sound bites on the topics every day, but they often seem to be contradictory and most people just treat them as background noise. Yet, the decades of the 2010s and especially the 2020s and beyond are potentially periods of great opportunity as well as great stress and threat arising from unique and dramatic changes in population, climate, and energy availability. The demographic, economic, and geopolitical impacts are expected to be considerable and variable.
